LOADING A PROGRAM
The procedure for loading a program is described in
chapter 16 of the ZX81 manual. The steps are
summarised below.
1. Connect the ear socket on your ZX81 to the ear
socket on your cassette recorder.
2. Position the tape before the beginning of the program
that you wish to load.
3. Turn the volume control to 3/4 of maximum or to a
level which you have found to be reliable on your
recorder.
4. Set the tone control for maximum treble and
minimum bass.
5. Type LOAD "PROGRAM NAME" but do not press
NEWLINE yet. The program name is printed on the
cassette.
6. Start the cassette recorder playing.
7. Press NEWLINE.
The approximate loading time is printed on the cassette.
If the program has not loaded after this time, try again
with a different volume setting. If you are still unable to
load the program refer to chapter 16 of the manual.

Psion software cassettes are manufactured by a fully
automated process under the strictest quality control.
Other Psion software cassettes for the Sinclair ZX81
include:
CHESS - A remarkable machine code program of the
highest standard which readily beats most non-club
players.
VU-CALC constructs, generates and calculates large
tables for such diverse applications as financial analysis
budget sheets and projections. Turns the Sinclair ZX81
into an immensely powerful analysis chart.
FANTASY GAMES - Psion Computers introduces
you to the new craze of interrogative, language-based,
role-playing, adventure style games. Side A: PERILOUS
SWAMP. Can you thwart the monster, rescue the
princess from the evil wizard and escape alive?
Side B: SORCERER'S ISLAND. Even more difficult and
not for the uninitiated.
BACKGAMMON - the traditional game of chance
and skill which has fascinated all from village player to
the super-rich in the gambling casinos of Europe. You
will need considerable strategic skill and luck to defeat
this program on the Sinclair ZX81.
FLIGHT SIMULATION - a real-time, machine-code
program which simulates the piloting, motion and
navigation of a high-performance, twin-engine
aeorplane. Includes cockpit display with detailed
instruments and horizon of sky and ground, full runway
perspective in motion for final approach and
navigational chart.
VU-FILE - a general information-retrieval program for
lists, names and addresses, society memberships,
catalogues, and files of all kinds. Features include user-
definable records, field packing for maximum storage,
list by any field, string search and many others.
